Ali Davoudi

Ali Davoudi received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. from the Sharif University of Technology, Iran, The University of British Columbia, Canada, and The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, respectively. He was with SolarBridge Technologies, Texas Instruments Inc., and Royal Philips. He is currently a Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department, University of Texas, Arlington, TX, USA. He directs the Complex Power Electronics Laboratory. He routinely teaches an undergraduate-level course on Introduction to Power Electronics and two graduate-level courses on Power Electronics Engineering and Electric Motor Drives. Five members of his research group have accepted tenure-track faculty positions in the U.S.

Dr. Davoudi is currently an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics. He was the technical program co-chair for the 2015 IEEE Workshop on Control and Modeling for Power Electronics, and the organizer and moderator of the 2018 ONR Controls Workshop. He started the Taylor and Francis book series on microgrids and active power distribution network engineering in 2015.

His research efforts are in high-fidelity modeling, distributed control, formal verification, and scalable optimization in cyber-physical power electronics, energy conversion, and distribution networks. He has co-authored 129 journal articles, two magazine articles, 86 conference/workshop papers, seven journal editorial notes, one book, and two book chapters. He has articles invited to the 2022 IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2022 IEEE International Conference on Control & Automation, 2021 IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2016 IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing, and 2015 IEEE International Conference on DC Microgrids. He received the 2013 Ralph H. Lee Department Prize Paper Award from the IEEE Industry Applications Society, the cover article of IEEE Control Systems in December 2014, the Best Symposium Paper from the 2015 International Symposium on Resilient Control Systems, 2014-2015 Best Paper Award from the IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2016 College of Engineering Early Career Award, 2016 Prize Paper Award from the IEEE Power and Energy Society, 2017 IEEE Power Electronics Society Richard M.
